Location

The “1. Institut für Theoretische Physik” is located in the physics building (NWZ II) on the campus in Stuttgart-Vaihingen. Although it is situated in a nature reserve the institute is very easy to reach.

How to find us

...by car

Motorway A8 Karlsruhe-München:
at the intersection “Stuttgart” take A81/A831 (direction Vaihingen/Stuttgart), exit “Universität” (3rd exit past intersection).

...by train

At the central station “Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof” take one of the following S-Bahn trains:

  • S1 (to Herrenberg)
  • S2 or S3 (to Vaihingen/Flughafen/ Filderstadt)
and get off at “Universität”. Trains leave every 5 or 10 minutes and take 10 minutes for the journey. For the trip from “Hauptbahnhof” to “Universität” a ticket for two zones is requested. You may also directly buy a train ticket to the train station “Stuttgart Universität”.

...by plane

Stuttgart airport is close to the university and can be reached easily by S-Bahn train. At the airport take

  • S2 (to Schorndorf)
  • S3 (to Backnang)
and get off at “Universität”. Trains leave every 10 or 20 minutes and take 17 minutes for the journey. A ticket for two zones is requested.
